John Sherwood (1945-) is an English hurdler who competed in the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics. In 1968, he won the bronze medal in the 4x400m relay and finished 5th in the 400m. In 1972, his 4x400m relay team did not advance past round one.

In 1980, Sherwood competed on the "World Superstars" TV series, earning $15,000.[1]

He is married to Sheila Parkin-Sherwood, who won a silver medal in the long jump at the 1968 Summer Olympics. He is the father of tennis player David Sherwood, a member of the British Davis Cup team. He is the brother of Steve Sherwood, the former Chelsea and Watford football goalkeeper.

After 40 years of teaching PE, 37 of those at Firth Park Community Arts College, Sheffield, John retired in 2006 after a finale school sports day on 12 July at the Don Valley Stadium which was closed with an address from Lord Sebastian Coe.
