Lamine Diack (1933-) is President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and also serves on the International Olympic Committee.

Sports career

In 1957-1960, Diack was French/West African Record Holder of long jump. In 1958, he was French Champion long jump (7.63m) and in 1959 he was French University Champion long jump (7.72m).

As an IAAF officer, he served as Vice President (1976-1991), Senior Vice President (1991-99) and President since 8 November 1999.

Non-sports career

In 1963-1964, he was Football Coach of the Foyer France Senegal. In 1964-1968 he was Technical Director of the national football team of Senegal. In 1969-1970 he was General Commissioner for Sport. In 1970-1973, he was Secretary of State for Youth and Sport. In 1973-1987, he served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA). In 1974-1978 and 1994-date, he is serving as President of the ASC DIARAAF.

In 1978-1980, he was Chairman of the City Council (Mayor) of Dakar and at the same time in 1978-1993 he served as a member of Parliament and in 1988-1993 as the Senior Vice-President (Deputy Speaker) of the Parliament of Senegal.

Diack was the Chairman of the Board of the National Water Company "Société Nationale des Eaux" of Senegal (SONES) from 1995-2001.
