The National Marathon is a 26.2 mile road race conducted each March in Washington, DC by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. A half marathon is also conducted. The 2010 race is scheduled for March 20, 2010.
The race organizers also conduct the Junior Monumental Milers Program, a physical education program challenge for D.C. Recreation Centers that promotes the daily habit of running and/or walking for fitness, long life and good health. The program will encourage youth to run/walk 26 miles over the course of 17-week period. [1]
