2008 Olympic Trials
The 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials—Women's Marathon was awarded to the Boston Athletic Assocation on June 22, 2006. The event was held in downtown Boston and Cambridge, MA, on April 20, 2008.[1] 
Lewy Boulet took an early lead, but was passed by Deena Drossin Kastor at mile 23.5 and held on to second place in 2:30:19, with Russell fighting to a brave third place in 2:32:40. Tera Moody and Zoila Gomez battled toe to toe for the fourth Alternate position, the latter getting the decision by a single stride, 2:33:53 to 2:33:54.
The first three earned $50,000, $40,000 and $30,000. Each will receive another $10,000, contingent upon their toeing the line in Beijing.[2]
