Thomas Schönlebe is an East German sprinter who competed in the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Summer Olympics.

Hewon the gold medal at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics in Rome setting a new European record of 44.33 sec that still stands.

A year earlier Schönlebe had finished second at the 1986 European Championships in Athletics in Stuttgart behind Roger Black. One of his last achievements was the third place at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics in Stuttgart with the German 4x400m relay.
